After working in sales support at Great America Leasing, what made you want to sell mobile homes in Cedar Rapids?
Mobile homes are a great product, easy to clean and take care of. The space is used efficiently so you can easily organize your stuff. The lawn care is manageable. Maintenance and utilities are extremely affordable.
You’re clearly passionate about the product you sell. Where does that enthusiasm come from?
I’ve lived in a Hames mobile home for most of the past 10 years. I currently live in the Grand View community in Cedar Rapids with my wife and two young daughters. (Full disclosure: Clint’s wife, Morgan, is granddaughter of Hames Homes founders Curt and Norma Hames.)
What is one thing that people would be surprised to learn about you?
Morgan and I love to go to classical and jazz concerts.
Is it strange working in a family business?
I actually like it! We have a small, close-knit group and I know my input is valued. There’s not a big ladder to climb to get things done, so we can service our customers better.
How do millennials, like yourself, perceive mobile homes, manufactured homes and “trailers”?
As a generation, we want green, energy efficient housing with the right amount of space – no more than we need and no less. Plus, people are becoming more educated on the down-side of renting. With the availability of credit data on the internet, we’re tracking our credit scores more, and looking long-term at housing.
What advice would you give someone who’s skeptical about the manufactured housing lifestyle?
Drive around our communities and see how well they’re maintained. If you see a Hames “Open House” sign in front of a home, go on in, it’s unlocked. You’ll be surprised how modern manufactured homes have become.
Then come and see me at the Grand View office at the corner of Wilson Avenue and West Post Rd. SW in Cedar Rapids. I can match you with the right mobile home and talk about financing options, too. You can reach me by phone (319) 377-4863 or email email@example.com.
