In a chic San Francisco eatery, a waiter interrogated my daughter and me on a recent college spring break trip to Northern California.
My first answer was, “well, there are more hogs in Iowa than people.”[i]
While that is true, I thought, I can come up with a better answer than that!
Next I replied with a better and more California-esque fact, “Iowa generates and uses more wind energy than any other state in the country.”[ii]
I won’t be caught unaware again. I’ve decided to brush up on my Iowa facts for the next time a snooty server decides to look down his nose at our Midwestern paradise.
