  1. Trailers

  2. Caravans

  3. Casitas

  4. Not Applicable – There are no manufactured home-type dwellings in Europe

    Answers:

  1. False. There are distinct use, style, legal and construction differences in these three types of housing.

  2. (d) 1976.  On June 15, 1976, Congress passed the Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards Act.  This set higher standards for construction of factory-built dwellings.  Prior to this, factory-built homes were called “mobile homes”.  After this date, the new, improved homes were called “manufactured homes”.

  3. (d) All of the above.  In the 1960s and 1970s, mobile home dealers were considered disreputable.  Since that time, federal, state and local governments, with the assistance of reputable mobile home retailers like Hames Homes, have implemented sensible oversight and licensing.

  4. (b) 7 days.  Most Hames manufactured homes are move-in ready.  However, if you’re getting a loan for your new manufactured home, Truth in Lending Act (TILA) Its Not Called a Trailer cartoon blog.jpgrequires a 7 day waiting period from loan-approval to loan-closing.

  5. (b) Caravans.  There are a few factory-built homes in Europe, and most are used for vacationing.
